Floyds Knobs is a hip and upcoming city outside of New Albany. This growing community is filled with shops, restaurants, and event halls that residents enjoy every day. The name comes from the siltstone landforms throughout the town and the man who founded the city named Colonel Davis Floyd. The town is most known for the famous PGA golfer Fuzzy Zoeller. Although this area has almost 80,000 residents according to City-Data, the area was once a prominent farm community that thrived. Many of the residents are younger couples that work in professional fields in the healthcare, social work, education, and retail trade sectors. Manufacturing is also a significant population group in the city.
New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation is the school district that serves the Floyds Knobs neighborhood. Floyd Central High School is known for their Girl's Cross Country Team because of the four championship wins from 1989 to 1992. The school is a performing arts educator that has seen success in choir, theater, and band as well. Great Schools rates the district at an eight out of ten.
Arni's Restaurant is one of the most popular places to grab a slice of pie with friends in Floyds Knobs. Tucker's American Favorites is packed on game day. Spend the day perusing the paintings and sculptures at Abrakadoodle before stopping off at Berry Twist for a refreshing drink on the way home. Grab a morning run at Galena Lamb Park or head over to Balmer Martial Arts and Fitness Center to lift some weights. The Huber Family has a restaurant, farm, and winery in the northern part of the city. People often frequent the properties to sample new selections of wine, take the kids to see the animals, and to buy homemade goodies from the country market. The Huber Joe Family Farm and Orchard has seasonal treats like jams, pies, cobblers, and nuts. Their fresh product store is one of the most popular places to visit for pumpkins, strawberries, apples, and cucumbers in the area.
